The 2025 Bensbach River barramundi season is well and truly underway in Papua New Guinea! It's always a tricky one to call, is there going to be too much rain and will the floodplanes be full? Or will we hit it just right and the first guys in will kill the pig? This year it's been a mixture of both, with the first group experiencing a bit of a tough slog but casting hard throughout the trip gave them a grand total of 12 barra over a metre along with plenty of 80's and 90's! Hardly something to complain about.. Group number two came in red hot, rolled the dice and it rained... And rained, and rained!

All you can do is knuckle down, laugh it up and try and keep your beer can from filling up from the downpour. If it wasn't for the rain, Bensbach wouldn't have the best runoff fishing on the planet! They guys are still hooking in, having a ball and experiencing the fishing adventure of a lifetime.

Lucky for the last groups lined up in August, all this rain means that the fishing at the tail end of the season is going to be superb!

Stay tuned and let's see if we get a few more 130cm+ beasts this year....
