One hours drive from Melbourne to Ballarat has you in the heart of Victoria. Just 20 minutes from Ballarat puts you at Millbrook Lakes Lodge - a private trout fly fishery.

Millbrook Lakes opened in March 1997 and has provided exceptional fly fishing ever since. The Lodge is located on the edge of a lake containing “wild” Brown and Rainbow Trout up to 14 pounds.

The two lodges, designed to accommodate a maximum of twelve people, are fully self contained with two bathrooms, a spa and an open stone fireplace - which is ideal for sitting around and telling those you-should-have-seen-the-size-of-it stories.

Guests of Millbrook Lakes Lodge have exclusive access to the lodges and three catch and release lakes. Unlike a motel, one night’s midweek accommodation at Millbrook Lakes Lodge gets you fishing from dawn on day one to last light on day two. The lodge must be vacated at 6pm on last day for cleaning.

Weekends start at 9am Friday and go right through to last light Sunday. With all individual and corporate bookings catering and guiding can be arranged. No previous fly fishing experience is necessary.

All guiding packages include tuition, transport, all fly fishing equipment (Sage & Loomis), morning and afternoon tea as well as lunch.

The guiding packages have extensive knowledge and experience and also specialise in rivers and streams.

Services & Facilities

Trout School: Whether you're a novice who is transfixed by the serenity or an intermediate fly fisher who wouldn't mind advancing your technique, the Trout School is for you.

Clinics are conducted on our private fly fishing lakes located near Ballarat. The lakes range in size from three to thirty acres and contain “Wild” Brown and Rainbow trout up to 14 pounds. The clinics cover casting, entomology, presentation, fly selection and how to get the most out of those one-that-got-away-stories. All you need to become an effective fly fisher.

Clinics commences 7pm Friday and finish Sunday evening with various instructors. The package includes accommodation at Millbrook Lodge, all equipment, meals, course information and materials. A maximum of 12 people per clinic ensures all attendees receive intensive tuition.
