All year round

The "big" Yellowfin arrive mid December to mid February.
Lying just 179 miles north of the Tongan mainland is a group of 53 Islands known as Vava’u, with only 6 of these islands inhabited. These untouched tropical waters of Tonga make for one of the last undeveloped paradise locations in the Pacific Ocean. With sheltered waters of Refuge Bay, many Islands, sea-mountains and drop-offs, FADS in deep blue water, as well as beautiful coral reefs and pristine white sandy beaches, Tonga can be combined with explosive fishing action as well as a relaxed style Island holiday.
The fish rich waters of Vava’u team with Pelagic game species. It is only a 30 to 40 minute boat journey from the lodge before anglers start fishing in excess of 1000 metres of deep blue water. Anglers can encounter Blue, Black and Stripped Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Yellowfin, SkipJack Tuna. Cast Poppers for the dynamic Giant Trevally and Blue Fin Trevally or jig for mighty Dogtooth Tuna. During the evening they might want to drift for Broadbill, the options are endless.
Other activities that can be enjoyed on your Tongan holiday included snorkelling, swimming, diving or whale watching at this exotic destination.
Lodge: Vava’u has its very own fishing lodge “Hakula” with absolute waterfront accommodation and beautiful views of Refuge Bay. Hakula Lodge has 2 self contained well appointed modern units, complete with king sized double and single beds, ensuite bathroom, kitchen, bar fridge and lounge, all of which are air conditioned and with ceiling fans. The units open onto your private deck with full harbour views, ideal for those BBQ nights having a cold drink watching the sunset. Below the units Hakula Lodge has its own private jetty, pontoon and weigh station. Your game boat “MV Hakula” is moored at your doorstep.
Boats: “MV Hakula” is a 34ft purpose built game fishing boat powered by twin diesel 105hp Nissan motors and all necessary safety equipment. It has all the comforts with a large cockpit, sun canopy, shower and toilet. MV Hakula’s tackle includes first class Shimano Tiagra Reels and Kilwell 130lb bent butt chair rods.
